Role Overview:
The Grants and Partnerships Consultant is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, managing donor relationships, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The role involves fostering strategic partnerships with donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to support the organization’s mission and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants Acquisition and Proposal Development
- Identify prospective grant opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, and other funding agencies.
- Lead or support the development of high-quality proposals, concept notes, and grant applications.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather information and ensure alignment between proposals and organizational strategies.
- Develop budgets in collaboration with finance teams, ensuring donor compliance.
Grant Management and Compliance
- Coordinate grant reporting, including narrative and financial reports, ensuring timely submission to donors.
- Monitor grant implementation to ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies.
- Maintain comprehensive grant documentation and reporting systems.
Partnerships Development
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors and partners.
- Represent the organization at donor meetings, forums, and strategic events.
- Coordinate partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with collaborators and funders.
- Support the development of corporate and strategic partnerships aligned with the organization’s goals.
Fundraising Strategy
- Contribute to the design and implementation of the organization’s resource mobilization strategy.
- Conduct donor landscape analysis and develop donor engagement plans.
- Track fundraising performance and report on KPIs and fundraising targets.
Communication and External Engagement
- Collaborate with the communications team to prepare donor-facing materials, case studies, and impact stories.
- Develop presentations, newsletters, and briefing documents for partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Communications, Project Management, or a related field. Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- 3–7 years of progressive experience in grant writing, fundraising, donor engagement, or partnership development.
- Proven track record of successful proposal writing and grant acquisition.
- Strong knowledge of donor landscape (bilateral, multilateral, foundations, etc.)
- Familiarity with donor compliance regulations
- Budgeting and project management experience preferred.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage relationships with various stakeholders.

Compensation:
This is a commission-based consultancy role, with compensation tied directly to successful grant acquisitions or partnership deals secured by the consultant, including opportunities for growth within the organization.
