Role Overview:
"We are looking for a part time M&E Consultant to help us build robust systems for data collection, impact tracking, and reporting as we prepare for scale and funding. This is a short-term opportunity with flexible hours, mentorship, and potential to transition into a full-time role once resources are available." 
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant is responsible for developing and implementing M&E systems to track program performance and impact. The role ensures the organization’s projects are results-oriented, learning-focused, and compliant with donor and organizational reporting requirements. The M&E Consultant provides leadership in data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and fosters a culture of learning and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

M&E System Design and Implementation

  • Design and operationalize monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) frameworks for programs and projects.
  • Develop and refine M&E tools, indicators, log frames, and data collection methodologies.
  • Ensure alignment of M&E systems with donor requirements, organizational goals, and international best practices.

Data Management and Analysis

  • Oversee data collection, entry, cleaning, storage, and quality control processes.
  • Conduct regular data analysis to assess progress against targets and outcomes.
  • Prepare dashboards, evaluation summaries, and visual reports for internal and external audiences.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track project outputs, outcomes, and impacts using established indicators.
  • Lead the development and submission of high-quality M&E reports to donors and stakeholders.
  • Support project teams in interpreting data to inform program decision-making and improvements.

Evaluations and Learning

  • Plan and coordinate baseline, midline, and endline evaluations, including hiring and managing consultants where needed.
  • Promote learning and adaptive management by facilitating reflection and review sessions.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices to enhance program design and strategy.

Capacity Building

  • Train and mentor staff and partners on M&E tools, techniques, and systems.
  • Provide technical guidance on the integration of M&E into project planning and implementation.

Accountability and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain feedback and complaint response mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards in data collection and management, including safeguarding and confidentiality.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, International Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in M&E roles, with at least 3 years in a management capacity.
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative M&E methods and tools.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as STATA, SPSS, R, or Power BI.

This is a success-based consultancy role, with compensation tied to the achievement of specific M&E outcomes and deliverables, including opportunities for growth within the organization.
